Step 1: Log into Your HubSpot Account
- Go to the HubSpot login page.
- Enter your credentials to access your dashboard.
Step 2: Access Contact Settings
- In the top right corner, click on your profile picture or initials.
- From the drop-down menu, choose "Settings."
Step 3: Navigate to Objects
- In the left sidebar of the settings page, click on "Objects."
- Select "Contacts" from the drop-down.
Step 4: Go to Contact Properties
- Inside the Contacts settings, find and click on "Properties."
Step 5: Review Existing Properties
- You'll now see a list of default properties.
- Browse through to familiarize yourself with what’s already there.
Step 6: Create a New Property
- Click on the "Create property" button.
Step 7: Define Property Details
- Give your property a label. This is how it will appear in your records.
- Provide an internal name for system reference. This is typically auto-populated based on your label.
- Add a description to help team members understand the purpose of this property.
Step 8: Choose the Field Type
- Decide what kind of data this property will hold. Options might include:
- Single-line text
- Multiple-line text
- Date picker
- Dropdown select
- Radio select
- Number
- and many more.
Step 9: Set Up Field Options (if necessary)
- If you've chosen a field type like dropdown or radio select, you’ll need to define the options available for selection.
Step 10: Configure Advanced Settings
- Determine if this property will be used in forms.
- Define any additional field behaviors or default values, if necessary.
Step 11: Save Your New Property
- Once all details are filled out, click the "Create" or "Save" button.
Step 12: Reorder Properties (Optional)
- If you'd like to adjust the order in which properties appear:
- Hover over the property name.
- Click and drag to its desired position.
Step 13: Edit Existing Properties (if needed)
- If you want to modify an existing property:
- Click on its name.
- Adjust the details as required.
- Save your changes.
Step 14: Test the New Property
- Go to any contact record.
- Ensure the new or edited property appears correctly and captures data as intended.
